#005 - Go for a walk
Sometimes it's difficult for me to get out of my head. During tough times I can fall into a paralysis where I don't get anything done (see above, the reason for this blog). Going for walks has recently been my way of breaking out of that funk. My dog loves it so it not is not only beneficial for me, but for others. Since around the beginning of the year I have challenged myself to walk 10,000 steps a day. This goal was established because of a few inspirations. First, it's known that walking more is beneficial for your health. Second, it's a mental challenge as much as it's a physical challenge (if it's raining I still have to get out there). Third, it allows for bonding with my dog and partner.
Creating daily goals like walking 10,000 steps or writing a blog post everyday help me stay focused and feel accomplished no matter what goes on throughout the day. There are always two things waiting for me that I can use to improve myself. After building some momentum after a few days I start to feel like I can accomplish more everyday. It becomes easier over time as well. After a few months I start to think, "Could I walk 15-20,000 steps a day?" Soon, I start to think about other goals I could create for myself. Could I start a business? It is much of the same. Have a goal, accomplish it everyday, and over time try to increase that goal or create new ones that are related.
