#042 - Pick up the phone
I've always had trouble asking for help. For most of my life—both in school and at work—I spent too much time not asking for help when I could have really used it. Recently, I've been working on changing my mindset around this. Instead of viewing it as a weakness or thinking that I’m wasting someone's time, I try to replace those thoughts with something positive. From now on, I don’t want to spend time worrying about what others will think.
What I’ve found so far is that people love to help when asked, especially small business owners. Perhaps it's because they know what it feels like to be in the position I’m in now. Not long ago, they were probably fumbling around, trying to start their first business.
This "just reach out" muscle is something you can build over time. In a way, it’s a form of exposure therapy—pick up the phone, and you never know what that can lead to.
